The Transfiguration on Mount Tabor - Eastern Orthodox and Western Reflections
Nick Papadopulos is an Anglican priest and has served as Vicar of St Peter’s Eaton Square, London, since 2007. His interest in the Transfiguration of Jesus is both academic and devotional. This address will consider the Gospel accounts of this most mysterious event, and the ways in which the Eastern and Western Fathers interpret it, culminating in the work of Gregory Palamas and early Hesychasm. It will also consider the iconography of the Transfiguration; and ask what implications the tradition has for contemplative life today.
