St Bernard of Clairvaux and the Song of Songs
One of the most neglected figures in the Western mystical tradition is Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a co- founder of Thomas Merton's Cistercian Order. Bernard is one of the major figures of the Middle Ages, but few contemporary people are aware of his lyrical commentary on the Canticle of Canticles, a great love song of the contemplative life. This day will focus on Bernard being pursued by his Divine Lover.
