St Catherine's Monastery nestles in a valley at the foot of Mount Sinai, and since its establishment has maintained an unbroken relationship with the local Bedouin tribes. Father Moses, one of the holy fathers of the monastery, is beginning to implement a vision for a better and more decent future for these people, relieving the extreme poverty and hardship experienced by many of the families. The contemplative spirituality network wishes to support this vision and are working closely with Father Moses and his team of international volunteers.
Through our website we are offering traditional handicrafts made by the Bedouin women. The whole project is not for profit, and money from all purchases of the handicrafts are being used to purchase more handicrafts, and fully benefit the ongoing work of the project. The last five years of the selling and distribution of the traditional Bedouin handicrafts in Egypt, Greece, France and other countries have resulted in the formation of over 500 new jobs for the Bedouin women, economic and practical assistance to the poorest families, improved water supplies and extended medical care.
